This joint programme by FINEP, CAIXA, CNPq and CAPES in Brazil promotes research in high-priority issues regarding national needs in water resources. As well, research band cooperative networks and new research groups are being developed. Training is given at laboratories level, human resources in diverse areas, production de technical papers, and in relation to the research: moving from the competitive approach towards cooperative research. A significant reduction in the unitary cost of researches is achieved; also cooperation between universities and sanitation companies and the improvement de diverse technologies.
